  • Full-time opportunity at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette 
  • May have an opportunity for independent practice at our two critical access hospitals
  • Schedule: M-F, 8s, 4x10s or 12s, available.
  • Some saturdays are required
  • Work / Life Balance, No call, and No OB
  • Will provide surgical and endoscopy case coverage
  • CRNAs participate in anesthesia specialty section meetings as well as other meetings as required
  • CRNAs are medically directed by team of 12 anesthesiologists
  • Strong collaborative team of 12 MDAs and 16 CRNAs
  • Successful candidate will be a team player, patient oriented, and committed to quality service
  • Healthy pediatric / regional anesthesia is a plus

Location: Muncie, IN - Specialty: Nurse Practitioner

The advanced provider will work with the Hospitalist team while seeing a variety of diagnoses that require patients to be admitted to the hospital (stroke, MI, sepsis, COPD exacerbations, diverticulitis, DKA, heart failure, etc.). The advanced provider is responsible for admitting patients including the initial H&P and admission orders and following those patients through the hospital stay including completion of discharge paperwork and the discharge dictation.

  • Three 12 hour shifts 7pm-7am Friday, Saturday, and Sundays

  • Complete admission notes/orders, daily progress notes, and consultation notes as well as discharge summaries.
  • Outpatient disease management (Perform H&P, review and interpret testing results, documentation of clinic visits, provide  phone assessments for clinic patients and adjust medical therapies as warranted via telemedicine, and act as a resource for the cardiology team including a resource for triage questions and peer to peer reviews for insurance).
  • Expected patient volume is 50 per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient histories and physical exams

  • Perform invasive procedures such as thoracenteses, chest tube insertions, placement of central venous, dialysis and Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, and intra-aortic balloon pumps
  • Exhibits autonomy in the operating room when required

  • Often uses endoscopic retrieval methods and involved in the industrial aspect of EVH
  • Performs first-assist duties on all cardiac and pediatric cases, thoracic and major/minor vascular cases
  • Meets the specific needs of the attending surgeon, assisting all surgeons in the practice
  • Has exacting knowledge of each surgeon's idiosyncrasies to expedite the procedure and limit patient morbidity and mortality
  • Uses knowledge of medical model to promote synergistic relationship between physician and PA
  • Has extensive knowledge of the pharmacologic effects of vasoactive/ cardiotonic drugs, ventilator management and artificial cardiac devices
  • Performs duties of a primary care PA
  • Manages other diseases entities frequently encountered in the cardiac population, namely hypertension, diabetes, COPD, asthma, hyperthyroidism, etc.
