The Division Chief will provide strategic and operational leadership across the full range of Division service areas, including the tripartite missions of the academic institution: clinical and administrative service, education, and research.
This academic role in the Department of Surgery at IUSM will work with and represent 20 faculty members and 11 advanced practice providers covering 8 hospitals and 4 ambulatory surgery centers in the Indianapolis metropolitan area. The division encompasses a large variety of general plastic and reconstructive surgery for pediatric and adult patients and includes: microsurgery, hand surgery, breast reconstruction, general oncological reconstruction, trauma, gender affirming surgery, peripheral nerve, cosmetic surgery along with the adult and children’s burn units. Services specific to the Riley Children’s Hospital include the surgical management of pediatric plastic surgery conditions, malformations, anomalies and deformities, and craniofacial surgery. Candidates should be motivated to lead a busy and growing clinical program. The division also offers 20 residency and 5 fellowship positions; including fellowships in burn, hand surgery, and cleft and craniofacial surgery. The plastic surgery division boasts a strong and growing NIH-funded research program and ideal candidates will have research experience.
Position Requirements
Expectations for the Division Chief include: setting yearly academic goals, conducting annual reviews, involvement in graduate medical education, responsibilities for research activities, division financial performance and reporting while collaborating with all other functional groups within the Department of Surgery, IUHP, affiliated hospitals and physician groups.

The Division of Vascular Surgery within the IU School of Medicine Department of Surgery and IU Health Vascular Surgery consists of ten clinical faculty, two basic science faculty and four advanced practice providers. The vascular surgery team prioritizes clinical care, innovative research and teaching the next generation of vascular specialists.
This division serves as the principal tertiary-care referral network for vascular disease across the state. The division serves patients at Methodist, University, Veterans Health, Eskenazi Hospitals and four outreach locations throughout the state. The vascular surgery division performs 2,000 procedures each year, sees more than 7,500 outpatients per year and has interpreted 18,000 vascular labs each year. The Division supports two new residents each year, one in the integrated and one in the independent pathway, with a total of 9 residents per year.

- Clinical expectations in the areas of carotid artery disease, thoracic outlet syndrome, aneurysm surgery, peripheral artery occlusive disease, complex aortic surgery, comprehensive venous disease, dialysis access and a wide spectrum of endovascular therapies
