The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine in conjunction with IU Health Physicians, are expanding its toxicology and endocrine testing capabilities and are recruiting an academic clinical chemist to join its faculty. The individuals will be based at the IU Health Central Pathology Laboratory in an automated clinical chemistry core laboratory that provides testing for general chemistry, special chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and toxicology. The IUHPL core chemistry laboratory provides services to several regional hospitals. Leadership opportunities are available depending on the interest and expertise of the candidate. This position is expected to have a major impact within an academic medical center clinical chemistry laboratory and a large laboratory system looking to expand its clinical chemistry and toxicology operations.
In addition to toxicology, this position will participate in a rotating sign-out service for interpreting electrophoresis results. This position will also serve as laboratory director for the Indiana University Newborn Screening Laboratory.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership, training, quality assurance/quality control, and regulatory testing guidance.
- Deliver professional diagnostic services in electrophoresis (serum/urine/CSF protein; hemoglobin).
- Provide leadership and mass spectrometry expertise for the IUHPL and/or Indiana University Newborn Screening Laboratory Operations.
- Provide clinical and technical consultation and conference support with department faculty members.
- Commitment to clinical and/or translational research, laboratory test development, laboratory administration and an interest in developing laboratory informatics.
- Actively participate in educational activities with medical students, residents, fellows, and graduate students.
- Full Time, Days, Monday - Friday
Qualifications:
- Three years of experience in clinical chemistry and toxicology
- Must be certified in anatomic pathology or anatomic and clinical pathology
- MD, PhD, preferably with American Board of Pathology or American Board of Clinical Chemistry certification or board eligibility
- Must be qualified for licensure in the state of Indiana
