IU Health Arnet is hiring an experienced Physician Assistant to join our close-knit and team-oriented Cardiovascular Surgery practice at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette IN. This new and exciting position will be a mix of time in the Operating Room, time with patients in the hospital and also in the office settings.
Position Details:
- Full Time, Day Shift
- 6:00am-4:00pm
- 3-4 individuals will share call (overnight, primarily for OR needs - includes Saturday-Sunday)
- 85% inpatient / 15% outpatient
- Experience in the OR required
- Work directly with 2 physicians and 1 advanced practice providers
- Expected patient volume: approximately 30 per week between hospital and clinic
- Additional Training and mentoring with experienced Cardiovascular professionals
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care to patients that have cardiovascular and thoracic pathology; including cancers, valve disfunctions and other cardiovascular diseases.
- Co-managing pre/post surgery care for patients in the hospital
- Assisting with triage needs for patients who call into the office for needs
- First-assisting in the OR
- Endoscopic vein harvesting, must have experience
- Management of chest tubes and wounds
- Thoracentesis and arterial lines
- Travel may be required during orientation
Qualifications:
- Master's degree required
- PA Certification
- Surgical cardiology and/or CV surgery experience required
- First assistant skills in the OR required
