Indiana University School of Medicine Division of Abdominal Transplantation and Indiana University Health Physicians are actively recruiting a full-time abdominal transplant surgeon with focus on liver and intestine transplant to join the faculty at the assistant, associate, or professor level. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with a collaborative group of surgeons and APPs providing exceptional surgical care within the Indianapolis area.

The main objective of this recruitment will be to support a well-established abdominal transplant surgery division. IU Health top 10 rankings include:  3rd in pancreas transplant volume, 5th in intestine transplant volume, and 5th in liver transplant volume. One of a combination of following skills are desirable: living donor liver transplantation, minimally invasive donor hepatectomy, liver perfusion, normothermic regional perfusion (NRP), or robotic surgery.

Clinical duties will include transplant surgeries, procurements and other related procedures. In addition, clinical teaching is the mainstay of educational duties with opportunities to interact with medical students, surgical residents, and fellows in the office, inpatient, and OR settings. This role is also be expected to participate in research/scholarship activities supporting the Division and their own professional growth.

The ideal candidate will have strong interest and expertise in microsurgical reconstruction, with a focus on oncologic reconstruction, complex extremity reconstruction, and lymphatic reconstruction.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing academic practice that emphasizes excellence in clinical care, resident and fellow education, and scholarly impact. Clinical responsibilities will include advanced microsurgical reconstruction using free tissue transfer techniques across the spectrum of reconstructive needs. Key Responsibilities

Clinical Sites

Institutional Highlights:
Slated for the 4th Quarter of 2027, a new $4.3 billion dollar Indiana University Health Hospital and Academic Health Center will be opening. The hospital will have the flexibility to accommodate 864 beds with roughly 1/3 of inpatient beds dedicated to critical care, with others designed to adjust up or down based on the needs of the patient. Trauma Service: Over 3,500 trauma admissions annually, IUH Methodist is among the largest 5% of trauma centers in the nation by volume. In 2023, our team evaluated more than 4,600 injured patients with approximately 85% blunt trauma, 15% penetrating trauma.

Emergency Surgery Service: Equally busy as the Trauma Service, attracting patients statewide. Two in-house Acute Care Surgeons are on duty 24/7, with one serving as the primary on-call Trauma Surgeon and the other handling Emergency General Surgery while also providing backup for the trauma surgeon.

Critical Care & Emergency Services: The hospital boasts one of the largest critical care departments in the country with 130 critical care beds and is equipped with a fleet of Lifeline Helicopters and fixed-wing transport capabilities. It handles approximately 100,000 ED visits annually.

IU Health Medical Group: This multispecialty group formed in partnership with Indiana University will be the employer for the new acute care surgeon.

Education: The Department of Surgery has 11 residents per year.  In addition, there are 3 surgical critical care fellowships and 1 AAST approved 2-year ACS fellowship.

Research: Robust support for clinical, translational, health sciences and basic science research is available.

Responsibilities:
Provide Acute Care Surgery services (trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care) in various settings including the ED, OR, ICU, floor, and clinic.
Engage in teaching and mentoring students, residents and fellows in all aspects of acute care surgery

  • Physicians who are US Board Certified in either Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine AND who have Urgent Care, ER, and/or Acute Care experience in patients 3 months of age and up are encouraged to apply.

Indiana University Health Medical Group North Region is recruiting a procedure-focused Urologist to join our team of 4 urologists and 5 APPs in Muncie, Indiana

Position Details:
•    Flexible schedule Monday-Friday 
•    Busy outpatient practice with limited call schedule
•    Compensation for extra voluntary call
•    2 DaVinci XI Robots available with dedicated OR block time
•    Mentorship by fellowship trained urologist in practice almost 20 years
•    Call response time allows you to live in Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, and Indianapolis proper


Key Responsibilities:
•    Treating adult general urology patients in an outpatient clinic
•    Inpatient hospital rounding on patients on call or if admitted post-surgery
•    Procedures include cystoscopies, vasectomies, robotic prostatectomies, lithotripsy, laparoscopic/robotic nephrectomies, ureteroscopies, etc.
•    Adjunct Faculty appointment with Indiana University School of Medicine
